Schnega
Wanderung Green Belt Hike from Schnega (27 km / hard)
Ever thought about going to Schnega for a hike? I did and it was really great! On the first part of this hike we walk alongside the former inner-German border, on the so called Grünes Band (Green Belt). It is also alongside Dumme river and through nature reserve Obere Dumme-Niederung (Upper Dumme Lowlands :). Once we’ve reached the nature reserve Gain we start a big turn through forested and open landscapes back to our starting point, the train station of Schnega.
Bring your own food and drinks as there are no options to stock up during the hike. Also sturdy shoes and clothes are recommended.
We meet in Hamburg Hauptbahnhof at 7:40 in front of the DB-Reisezentrum (outside of the building, in front of the exit!) and take the train at 7:57 in the direction of Uelzen. We change the train in Uelzen and reach Schnega at 9:24. Our return trip from Schnega starts either at 16:24 or 17:24. Accordingly our return back in Hamburg will be at 18:03 or 19:03.
HVV Proficard / Fulltime Season Ticket / Semester-Ticket holders can go to Schnega for free and can be accompanied by another person (not Semester-Ticket). Everyone else should buy Niedersachsen-Tickets together (up to 5 persons per ticket) and I suggest that the costs (~5-10€) be shared among all participants who do not own a Proficard / Fulltime Season Ticket / Semester-Ticket.
Please play nice and only sign up if your are 100% sure that you will join! Unreliable people (no show or late cancellation) may be excluded from future events with limited capacity.
As always, this is a free event, but voluntary donations are welcome.
